Beijing says that Daxing International airport’s facilities and equipment have met operating conditions, and that the gateway is on track to open before 30 September.
Feng Zhenglin, head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, says that the target is for work on the airport to be completed by the end of June.
He adds that the main construction of the gateway has been completed and that interior decoration, as well as installation and commissioning of equipment are now underway. Verification flights have also been completed 19 days ahead of schedule.
Feng adds that the target is for Daxing International to achieve a passenger throughput of 45 million in 2021, and for the figure to hit 72 million by 2025.
In preparation for the airport’s opening, the CAAC is also working on rights, routes, and slot allocations.
