Delta Air Lines is bolstering its international network from the US East Coast next year by launching a new service from Raleigh to Paris and adding more flights between New York and Tel Aviv.
Atlanta-based Delta says that on 12 May it will launch daily flights between Raleigh-Durham International in North Carolina and Paris Charles de Gaulle using 164-seat Boeing 757-200ERs.
The service marks the second nonstop transatlantic route operated by any carrier from Raleigh-Durham, a region known as the "Research Triangle" in reference to the high concentration of technology companies based there.
Flightglobal's Innovata schedules show that the other transatlantic flight is America Airlines' daily service to London Heathrow.
In addition to its new service to the French capital, Delta will on 26 May begin operating four additional round-trip flights between New York JFK and Tel Aviv using 291-seat 777-200ERs.
Those flights, which Delta says are to operate year-round, will bring the carrier's total number of weekly round-trip flights on the route to 11.
Delta will compete on the route with Israel's El Al, which next summer will fly between New York (including JFK and Newark Liberty) and Tel Aviv 22 times weekly, the carrier's website indicates.
In addition, United Airlines will operate 14 times weekly between Newark and Tel Aviv next summer, schedules show.
