Eurowings will add a second service to the New York City area, replacing parent Lufthansa on some Newark flights in December.
The low-cost carrier will offer six-times weekly service to Newark from Dusseldorf with Airbus A330-300s from 1 December 2018, it says today. Lufthansa will consequently end service on the route.
Eurowings' new Dusseldorf-Newark flights will complement its five-times weekly service to New York John F Kennedy from Dusseldorf, which the airline began flying in April.
The airline will also serve Fort Myers and Miami in the USA this winter. It will launch flights to Las Vegas from Dusseldorf in July 2019.
Eurowings benefits from codeshare agreements with both Lufthansa and United Airlines, the latter of which operates a hub at Newark.
No other airlines fly between Dusseldorf and Newark, FlightGlobal schedules data shows.
