Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced the routes it will launch in 2020, covering flights within Asia-Pacific and to the United States.
Starting 28 February 2020, the Oneworld carrier will join compatriot All Nippon Airways (ANA) in launching the Tokyo Narita-Vladivostok route. Flown by Boeing 737-800s, this starts off on a thrice-weekly basis before increasing to a daily frequency from 29 March.
Cirium schedules data shows that JAL will compete with Aeroflot and S7 Airlines on this route, as well as ANA.
JAL is also commencing daily Tokyo Narita-Bengaluru and Tokyo Narita-San Francisco on 29 March 2020 with 787-8s. The San Francisco flight will complement its existing Tokyo Haneda-San Francisco service.
Cirium schedules data shows that JAL will be the sole operator on the Bengaluru service, and for the San Francisco route, the carrier will compete with ANA and United Airlines.
From 1 July 2020, JAL will double the frequency on its Tokyo Narita-Guam service to twice daily. It intends to deploy 767-300ERs on the additional flights. JAL already operates alongside Jeju Air and United Airlines on this route.
