JetBlue will add daily, nonstop flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Georgetown, Guyana on 2 April, the airline announced on 10 September.
The New York-based airline will fly to the South American country with Airbus A321neo aircraft. JetBlue has one A321neo already in service and 58 on order, Cirium fleets data shows.
Caribbean Airlines currently flies nonstop between JFK and Georgetown, published schedules show. Several other carriers, including American and Copa, offer flights with stops between the two cities.
“Guyana service introduces a diverse and underserved destination to the JetBlue route map which will benefit both leisure travelers, as well as those visiting friends and relatives,” JetBlue’s director of route planning Andrea Lusso says in a media release.
The A321neo’s longer range (about 500nm over the previous version) has opened up new destinations for JetBlue, the company says. Earlier this year, the carrier announced that its first A321neo destination would be Guayaquil, Ecuador.
JetBlue has 13 Airbus A321LRs and 13 Airbus A321XLRs on order, which will help support its planned push into Europe in 2021.
