Scottish operator Loganair has commenced services from Carlisle Lake District airport, the first commercial flights from the north-west UK airport in over a quarter of a century.
The airline is opening the flights to Dublin, Belfast City and London Southend from 4 July.
Loganair says it will carry out 28 flights to and from the airport, using Saab 340 turboprops.
These will include five-times weekly operations to Belfast and Dublin, and a four-times weekly link to London.
The first flight, bound for Dublin, took off shortly after 08:00. It is being operated by an Estonian-registered aircraft (ES-NSD).
This Saab 340 has been leased through Estonia's NyxAir and Finland's Alandia Air, according to Cirium's Fleets Analyzer.
Carlisle's main runway, designated 06/24, has a length of 1,799m and the airport – which has the ICAO identifier EGNC – is equipped with DME and NDB navigation aids. Its last commercial flights took place in 1993.
