Polish flag carrier LOT has expanded its Lithuanian operations with regular services to Kaunas.
The local airport authority says that, after switching Vilnius flights to Kaunas for a month last summer while runway renovation was being carried out at the capital's gateway, LOT decided to serve Luthuania's second-largest city on a permanent basis.
Bombardier Q400 turboprops configured with a three-class cabin layout are being used to operate the six-times-weekly Warsaw-Kaunas service, launched on 21 May.
LOT also conducts five daily rotations to Vilnius and a six-times-weekly seasonal service to the Lithuanian coastal resort Palanga.
Wizz Air is a competitor on the Warsaw-Vilnius route, but LOT is the sole carrier on the routes from Warsaw to Kaunas and Palanga.
