Lufthansa will terminate its flights to Qatar in October.
The Star Alliance carrier operates a daily service to Doha from Frankfurt via Kuwait, FlightGlobal schedules data shows.
"Despite substantial sales efforts, this route was found to be commercially not viable," Lufthansa says.
It adds that the stopover in Kuwait was introduced in 2016 after "unsatisfactory commercial development of the route over the past few years".
The airline started serving Doha in 1993. Lufthansa's last flight from the Qatari capital will depart on 27 October.
Qatar Airways operates twice-daily flights to both Frankfurt and Munich, and daily flights to Berlin.
The Oneworld carrier faces no competition on the routes to Berlin and Munich.
