Turkish carrier Onur Air is to commence flights to China in September next year.
It will operate from Istanbul Ataturk to Chonqing from 20 September 2017 with a three-times weekly frequency.
Onur Air chief executive Cankut Bagana says China will be an “alternative market” for the airline.
The carrier intends to raise the service to daily within a short time. It has not indicated an aircraft type but Onur's long-haul fleet includes Airbus A330s.
“Chongqing will have greater capacity,” says Bagana. “After increasing flights to daily, Onur Air plans to add more destinations in the region.”
He says these planned routes include Shenzhen, Wuhan, Kunming, Nanjing, Qingdao and Tianjin.
