Alaska Airlines is expanding from Norman Y Mineta San Jose International airport in California, announcing it will launch new flights to Orange County and San Diego on 5 June.
SkyWest Airlines will operates the routes three times daily for Alaska using 76-seat Embraer 175 regional jets, Alaska says.
Alaska will compete from San Jose to San Diego International airport with Southwest Airlines, which flies the route up to 10 times daily.
Likewise, Southwest flies up to nine times daily from San Jose to John Wayne airport in Orange County.
