Ryanair is to close its Glasgow International airport base in November, as it expands its network from Edinburgh for the winter 2018-19 season.
The Glasgow base, set up four years ago, has only a single stationed aircraft.
Ryanair is blaming passenger taxes for "severely" hampering development of the low-fare market from the city's main airport.
It says the single Glasgow aircraft and five routes – Lisbon, Sofia, Riga, Berlin and Derry – will be transferred to Edinburgh.
But the airline stresses that Glasgow International links with Dublin, Krakow and Wroclaw will continue.
Ryanair also has a base at Glasgow Prestwick.
Its winter schedule from Scotland, as a result, will feature 45 routes from Edinburgh – including 11 new services.
These will comprise the five former Glasgow links plus Gothenburg, Hamburg, Stockholm Skavsta, Seville, Tallinn and Memmingen.
Ryanair will offer eight routes from Glasgow Prestwick along with the three from Glasgow International.
