Ryanair will add 34 new routes from Frankfurt Main and station three additional aircraft at the German base next summer.
The budget carrier says its Frankfurt network will gain six Greek destinations – Athens, Corfu, Chania, Kefalonia, Mykonos and Santorini – as well as one each in Morocco and Poland: Agadir and Krakow, respectively.
Nine new Spanish routes are to be added: to Barcelona, Girona, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Madrid, Murcia, Seville, Tenerife and Valencia. Ryanair will additionally serve six new Italian destinations: Bergamo, Brindisi, Catania, Perugia, Pisa and Venice Treviso.
The Dublin-headquartered carrier will also start flights to UK airports Glasgow, London Stansted and Manchester, French cities Marseille, Perpignan and Toulouse, and Croatian coastal destinations Pula, Rijeka and Zadar. The list of new destinations from Frankfurt is completed by Lisbon and Porto in Portugal.
To support the expansion, Ryanair is to boost the number Boeing 737s it has based at the German airport from seven to 10. The airline estimates that the new routes will allow it to increase its Frankfurt passenger numbers by 1.2 million to 2.6 million per annum.
FlightGlobal schedules data indicates that only seven of the new 34 routes are not already served by other carriers as passenger routes. Lufthansa is the biggest competitor, operating on nine of the 34 new Ryanair routes, ahead of Condor on seven.
Ryanair also intends to add a new route to Plovdiv from Hahn airport, located some 115km west of Frankfurt Main. FlightGlobal schedules data indicates that this will be the Bulgarian city's only German link.
