Lufthansa Group is to establish further connections to the Slovenian capital Ljubljana in the wake of Star Alliance partner Adria Airways’ collapse.

Its Brussels Airlines affiliate has already disclosed plans to open a link from the Belgian capital.

But this will be reinforced by new flights from Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich.

Lufthansa will operate twice-daily services from Frankfurt and daily services from Munich, commencing over 27 October-1 November.

These will be flown by its CityLine regional operation using Bombardier CRJ900s.

Its partner carrier Swiss will operate Airbus A220 flights from Zurich, starting 16 October, with the five-times-weekly frequency rising to daily when the winter season begins.

Lufthansa Group also points out that its carrier Austrian Airlines is offering several daily services from Vienna to the city of Klagenfurt, which lies about 65km from Ljubljana.
