Brussels airport has suffered two explosions, the nature of which have yet to be determined.
The airport’s operator says, via its social media feed, that the terminal building is being evacuated.
“Don’t come to the airport area,” it states.
No details on damage have been confirmed but images on social media purportedly show substantial damage to an airport terminal building which is close to concourse B.
There are no immediate reports on possible injuries.
Pan-European air navigation agency Eurocontrol’s network operations centre is stating that Brussels airport is unavailable until further notice.
Official NOTAM information also lists the airport as closed.
Although the nature of the explosions is unclear, the incident follows high-profile anti-terrorist activity in the Belgian capital linked to the assault in Paris in mid-November.
