Brazil's Embratel communications organisation has ordered a third satellite from Hughes Space and Communications. Called the Brasilsat 3A, the HS-376 model will be launched by an Ariane booster in 1997. It is the 50th HS-376 to be ordered from Hughes, which received orders in 1995 for 29 satellites. Eleven Hughes satellites are to be launched in 1996 and the company has a backlog of 41 spacecraft worth $5.7 million.
