Former McDonnell Douglas (MDC) executive Lou Harrington has been appointed chief executive of Fairchild Dornier. He replaces Chuck Pieper, who will continue to serve as chairman. Harrington's senior posts during his 36 years at MDC included vice president and general manager of the MD-11/DC-10 division. He has also served as a consultant to NASA and Indonesia's IPTN. He joins Fairchild on 1 October and will be based at Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany.
