The company turns the common expression around to promote the role of its large-format flight displays for high-performance aircraft manoeuvring through heavily-congested airspace.
Collins Pro Line 21 avionics systems, created for the new Bell-Boeing 609 civil tiltrotor and Raytheon's new Premier I business jet, offer displays nearly 30% larger and approximately two-thirds the weight and depth of 20cm x 20cm CRT displays.
Terry Wilson, director of sales and marketing for Collins General Aviation, says: "These larger displays allow more information to be presented on fewer displays, repositioning critical flight information from multiple displays to a single display.
"This reduces pilot scan and makes more efficient use of panel space."
Pro Line 21 avionics systems can accommodate from two to six displays, depending on aircraft type.
Deliver
The Bell-Boeing 609's three-display, right-seat configuration and the Premier's two-display, left-seat configuration both deliver flight control and aircraft performance data using display formats and easy-to-read symbols unique to each aircraft.
Information is displayed in innovative yet familiar formats developed by pilots to reduce workload and increase crew effectiveness, says a spokesman.
