Associations representing US owners of home-built and experimental aircraft are working on optional sources of hull insurance after leading insurer Avemco declared a moratorium on new policies for higher performance aircraft. Avemco is to renew current policies and continue providing liability insurance but will not guarantee hull coverage on new aircraft of certain models.
