The International Space Station (ISS) Expedition 11 crew were launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on 15 April on board the Soyuz TMA-6 spacecraft. The three-man crew comprises Italian European Space Agency astronaut Roberto Vittori, Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev – Expedition 11 commander – and the expedition's flight engineer, US astronaut John Phillips. They were due to dock with the ISS on 17 April. Vittori's second stay lasts 10 days. He will return to Earth by 25 April with the Expedition 10 crew, Leroy Chiao and Salizhan Sharipov. The Soyuz TMA-6 will remain docked as an emergency lifeboat for six months.
