China plans a new generation satellite launcher which is capable of carrying payloads weighing up to 13t into geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) and 25t into low-Earth orbit. The design is based on modular core and strap-on stages with common components including cryogenic and liquid oxygen-kerosene engines. The current Long March 3B booster can place 5,000kg (11,000lb) into GTO.
