United Engine’s Perm Motors division expects to start powerplant tests at a new facility next year.
The new facility, located in Novye Lyady, is being developed for the Aviadvigatel PD-14.
Perm Motors managing director Sergei Popov says that the company is expecting the volume of production to increase 1.7 times during 2017-19, compared with 2015-16.
“This is why we need a new test rig,” he adds.
Perm Motors will use the facility to test Aviadvigatel PS-90 powerplants – used on aircraft including the Tupolev Tu-204 – in addition to the PD-14, which is being developed for the Irkut MC-21.
