Litton's Amecom division has been awarded the $17.9-million contract to develop a new broadband digital receiver for military applications.
Announcing the deal on the eve of Dubai '97, senior vice-president Harry Halamandaris said the NexGen system will identify and locate the origins of all radio frequency (RF) emitters found in multi-mission battles.
"The JSF is a certain candidate for this system," he says.
NexGen aims to achieve a 50-70% reduction in current receiver size, weight and power requirements as well as accurate RF threat location and suppression of enemy air defences.
