The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has found "no adverse safety trend" since the latest stage of Australia's controversial new airspace rules were introduced in November last year. This finding comes despite the country's air traffic controller union Civil Air claiming safety incidents have increased since the National Airspace System (NAS) was introduced.

Following public debate over NAS safety, the ATSB analysed traffic collision avoidance system resolution advisories (RA) in the 140 days after 27 November and compared them with a year earlier. There were 37 RAs after NAS introduction and 38 a year earlier.

Civil Air says there were 360 air safety incidents in February, but Airservices Australia says this includes all incidents and not just those relating to air traffic control.
