Pakistan's 70kg Badar-2 atmospheric and solar radiation research satellite will be launched as a piggyback payload aboard a Russian Molniya booster carrying a national Meteor 3 weather satellite in August. The Badar 1 was launched on a Chinese Long March 2E development flight in 1990 but functioned for only 35 days. Algeria will launch its first satellite in 2000. The remote sensing craft will be the first in a series.
