Continental and United Airlines have unveiled an eight-member senior management team equally split between current senior level executives of both carriers.
The two carriers announced their intention to merge in May of this year.
As stated previously Continental CEO Jeff Smisek will become the merged entity's chief. Members of Continental's executive team moving to the merged carrier to serve in the same roles include chief financial officer Zane Rowe, head of marketing Jim Compton, human resources head Mike Bonds and vice president of communications Nene Foxhall.
Members of the United team include current head of marketing Jeff Foland, who will serve as head of the combined carrier's loyalty programme, Keith Halbert, who retains his position as chief information officer, Pete McDonald who will become the carrier's chief operations officer and Tom Sabatino, who will remain as the merged entity's general counsel.
Two of United's high level executives - chief financial officer Kathryn Mikells and executive vice president John Tague - are absent from the list, and in a statement United explains they plan to leave the company following the close of the merger. Other United executives leaving at that time include president of Mileage Plus Graham Atkinson and senior vice president of corporate affairs Rosemary Moore.
The new leadership team now plans to work with Smisek to develop the merged carrier's officer-level organisation and select remaining members of the leadership team.
Both airlines still maintain the merger will close by year-end.
