New Zealand’s Alpha Aviation is poised to begin full-scale production of the Alpha 160A two-seat aerobatic trainer and anticipates national Civil Aviation Authority certification for the aircraft and the production facility within weeks. The Hamilton-based company acquired the all-metal 160A, formerly the Robin R2160, from France’s Apex Aviation in 2004 as part of a package that included the R2120, now Alpha 120T, basic trainer, and US and European approvals. Alpha has nine orders for both models.
