Bombardier has delivered the first of four 415 amphibians to the government of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is the 201st amphibious aircraft delivery for Bombardier in 31 years.
The Canadian province operates six ageing piston-powered 215s - some of which will be replaced by their more powerful, turbine-engined successor. The amphibious piston aircraft entered service in 1969 and 125 aircraft were delivered until production was halted 21 years later. Sixty-four 215s remain in service.
The 415 was launched in 1994 and 76 have been delivered.
