Flight International's Top 100 survey shows that EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space) is already the world's second largest aerospace company, when Lockheed Martin's pending divestments are taken into account. EADS, formed from Aerospatiale Matra, Dasa and CASA, came into existence when it floated last week.

The Top 100 report also reveals that the industry endured a patchy year in 1999 against a background of continuing merger activity.
