Seaspray Deal - The German navy has awarded Marconi Electronic Systems a £15 million ($25 million) contract for Seaspray radars for its Westland Lynx, the largest ever order for the system. The deal will ensure that production of the Seaspray, a pulse compression radar providing detection and resolution against small targets in high sea states, continues until 2002. Tudor weight limit - The Canadian Forces are imposing a weight limit of 115kg (254lb) on pilots and their equipment in Lockheed T-33 and Canadair Tudor trainers. The last three ejections in T-33s, in 1982, 1984 and 1994, resulted in at least one death. While the service says no link has been found between excess weight and ejection survival, it says it poses a potential safety risk. Indian missile - India is developing a new intercontinental ballistic missile capability by combining elements of the Agni ballistic missile with the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) according to the Asian Age newspaper, quoting Indian defence ministry sources. The weapon, with an estimated range of 8,000km (4,970 miles) would combine the Agni re-entry vehicle with the first stage boosters of the PSLV. The Agni II has a range of only 3,500km. Gripen Computer - Saab/British Aerospace has awarded Honeywell Sensor and Guidance Products a contract to supply HG1141 air data computers for the Gripen fighter.
