Swiss rapier
Matra BAe Dynamics has signed a £50 million ($83 million)deal with Switzerland for a mid-life upgrade of the Swiss air force's Rapier short-range surface-to-air missile. The upgrade includes improvements to the acquisition and tracking radar and software enhancements.
Warning win
Tenix Defence Systems has awarded Northrop Grumman a $4.1 million contract to equip 16 Royal Australian Navy Sikorsky S-70 helicopters with the AAR-54 passive missile approach warning system. Deliveries will begin in late 1999.
