AerCap has exercised options to purchase 50 more Airbus A320neo-family aircraft.
Deliveries of the aircraft will begin in 2022, says the Dublin-based lessor.
The deal brings AerCap's firm A320neo orders to 270, including those already delivered to the lessor. Flight Fleets Analyzer lists 41 in-service A320neos as managed by AerCap. Of these, 21 are powered by the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G and 20 by the CFM International Leap-1A.
AerCap's chief executive Aengus Kelly describes it as the largest lessor of A320neo-family jets and notes that it has placed three-quarters of its forward orderbook for the aircraft.
"We have seen significant market appetite for these aircraft from our diverse customer base," states Kelly, adding that the latest transaction "is in line with our portfolio strategy of investing in the most in-demand modern technology aircraft in the world".
Airbus's chief operating officer for customers John Leahy sees the deal as "a fabulous endorsement of the world’s favourite single-aisle aircraft".
