Nigerian carrier Air Peace has firmed an order for up to 30 Embraer 195-E2 regional jets, unveiling the agreement at an African airline seminar organised by the airframer in Mauritius.
Ten aircraft are under firm contract and the agreement includes purchase rights for another 20.
The airline will become the first E2 operator on the continent, says Embraer.
Air Peace already uses Embraer ERJ-145s, with six of the type in its Hopper subsidiary. Chief executive Allen Onyema says the E2 is a “marvel of economic performance”.
Embraer will add the order to its second-quarter backlog figures. It values the agreement at up to $2.1 billion at catalogue prices.
Air Peace last year signed for a fleet renewal programme that included 10 Boeing 737 Max jets.
