Boeing's aircraft orders tumbled to just 13 in the second quarter of 2019, while deliveries slipped to 90 aircraft due to the grounding of the 737 Max.
Airbus's orders also slipped year-on-year in the second quarter, though not nearly to the same degree.
Boeing's second quarter orders declined 95% from the 277 new orders it took in the second quarter of 2018. It booked 13 aircraft from March to June, comprising four 737s and nine widebodies – six 767s, two 777s and one 787.
But the 737 entries actually reflect a transfer of 737 Max delivery slots from Boeing Capital to an existing customer that had held later slots, Boeing has said.
The US manufacturer will release its second quarter financial results on 24 July.

By comparison, in the second quarter of 2018 Boeing received orders for 178 737s and 99 widebodies, its data shows.
Airbus logged orders for 151 aircraft in the second quarter, including 146 narrowbodies and five widebodies. For the same period the previous year, Airbus received orders for 193 aircraft, among them 129 narrowbodies and 64 widebodies, its data shows.
Boeing's second quarter aircraft deliveries tumbled to 90 aircraft – less than half the 194 it delivered in the same period last year.
Second quarter deliveries included 24 737s (all earlier-generation 737NGs) to customers such as the Australian government, BOC Aviation, China Eastern Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Sberbank Leasing and the US Navy. Additionally, it delivered two 747-8 Freighters in the second quarter to US express package shipping company UPS.
It handed over 10 767s in the period, including six 767-based tankers known as KC-46s to the US Air Force, three 767-300Fs to FedEx and one 767-300F to UPS, Boeing's data shows.
The US manufacturer delivered 12 777s to customers including ANA Holdings, China Southern Airlines, DHL, Eva Air, FedEx and Korean Air.
It handed over 42 787s in the second quarter, including one 787-8, 32 787-9s and nine 787-10s.
The 787 customers included Air France-KLM Group, Air Lease, ANA, BOC, China Eastern, China Southern, Etihad Airways, International Lease Finance, Royal Air Maroc, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines, according to Boeing.
By comparison, the 194 aircraft Boeing delivered in the second quarter of 2018 included 137 737s, one 747, five 767s, 13 777s and 38 787s.
