China has signed with Airbus for 130 jets in a deal worth $17 billion.
The agreement covers 100 Airbus A320-family aircraft, and also includes the firming of options for 30 A330s, says a source familiar with the deal.
This was inked in Beijing on 29 October during a meeting between Chinese premier Li Keqiang and German chancellor Angela Merkel.
Airbus declines to comment on the agreement.
But in July, China Aviation Supplies Holding signed for 45 A330s, plus a memorandum of understanding for another 30 options. On the same day, Airbus sealed a framework agreement to set up an A330 completion centre in Tianjin.
It is unclear how the 130 aircraft will be allocated among the Chinese airlines. No engine selection has been disclosed.
