An undisclosed customer has awarded Comlux Completion, the US maintenance, repair and overhaul arm of business aviation services provider Comlux, the cabin outfitting contract for the first Boeing Business Jet Max 8.
The VIP airliner will arrive at Comlux Completion's Indianapolis, Indiana facility in the fourth quarter of 2018, for redelivery in the second half of 2019.
The award comes less than two months after Comlux clinched its first completions contract for an Airbus ACJ320neo from a private customer in Asia. The narrowbody is scheduled to arrive in September 2019 and the project should take around 10 months, the company says.
Comlux Completion chief executive Scott Meyer believes the contracts are an endorsement for the venture, acquired by the Swiss parent company in 2008. "The first Max 8, together with the first Neo contract signed in August, are paving the way for establishing Comlux as a leader in the VIP completions market," he says.
The two projects were won against a backdrop of falling orders for VIP airliners, which has hit US interior outfitters particularly hard. In September, StandardAero announced it was closing its Associated Air Center airliner completions operation, noting that the business is "no longer viable”.
