Garmin has acquired US electronic flightplanning services provider FltPlan, in a move designed to bolster its portfolio of aviation services for its global customer base.
FltPlan, which is headquartered in Connecticut, has more than 165,000 registered users and creates more than 6.3 million flightplans per year through its free flightplanning and filing service for North America, Central America and parts of South America on its website and FltPlan Go mobile app. The company also offers additional paid services such as runway analysis, pre-departure clearances and post-flight reporting.
Garmin executive vice-president and managing director Phil Straub says the company will now combine FltPlan's portfolio with its "robust" product offering, which includes a broad range of avionics and flightdecks, "to provide an unmatched portfolio of end-to-end services to our customers".
