Gulfstream is to embark on a major expansion of its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Appleton International airport in Wisconsin to cater for its growing business jet fleet.
With work scheduled to begin in May, the $40 million project will increase the ground of area of the site from 29,300m² (315,000ft²) to nearly 46,000m² – doubling its MRO capacity. Construction is expected to take about 12 months.

The new facility will be northeast of the airport and include a hangar, offices, workshops and support space.
Gulfstream has operated at Appleton since 1998 following its $250 million acquisition of business aviation services provider KC Aviation. While it has expanded the facility on a number of occasions since then, Gulfstream says the latest undertaking marks its most significant investment in the site.
Flight Fleets Analyzer records a global inventory of more than 2,100 Gulfstream aircraft, of which nearly 1,400 are based in the USA. The Appleton facility has approvals to work on Gulfstream types registered in host of countries and regions, including Bermuda, Canada, China, Europe, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
