IAG’s new long-haul low-cost airline operation is to be branded ‘Level’, and its initial route network will comprise four destinations in North and Latin America.
Level will commence services with two 314-seat Airbus A330s in June this year, says IAG.
It will operate from Barcelona to the US cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as the Argentinean capital Buenos Aires and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
IAG says the A330s will be operated initially by Iberia cockpit and cabin crew.
Level’s aircraft will be fitted with 21 premium-economy and 293 economy-class seats.
IAG will look to expand the Level operations to other European cities.
It had previously identified Santiago, Havana and Tokyo as potential routes for the new long-haul division.
Barcelona is the base of IAG’s budget airline Vueling, which could potentially act as a feeder to the Level flights.
