Yamaha is promoting a new unmanned helicopter called the Fazer RG2.
The Fazer RG2 system can be used for missions such as environmental survey, mining survey, aerial photography, volcano observation, and disaster relief, says the company.
So far, Yamaha has built four units, which it offers out for hire. The helicopter is powered by a four-stroke engine derived from a motorcycle. The company says it has been involved with developing unmanned helicopters since 2000.
Yamaha adds that the system has a number of attributes that make it superior to an electrically powered system, such as a 90km range, 2,800m operating ceiling, and a maximum payload of 35kg.
