Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Aero Engines (MHIAEL) has completed the first retrofit of intermediate pressure compressor (IPC) modules on All Nippon Airways’ (ANA) Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines.
The first retrofit was completed on 11 September, and will cover the carrier’s Trent 1000 engines that power its Boeing 787 fleet.
Cirium’s fleets data indicates ANA operates 67 Boeing 787s, and all of them are Trent-powered aircraft.
MHIAEL states that the IPC module retrofit takes place at its partner company Tohmei Industries’ plants, as its MRO shop in Nagoya is “currently full of existing orders”.
MHIAEL has an existing partnership with ANA for its Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines, which power its Boeing 767 and 777 aircraft. The engine MRO has also participated in the development of the Trent 1000 as a programme partner.
