Mitsubishi Aircraft plans to bring its MRJ regional jet to the Farnborough air show, where it may appear in the flying display.
"Mitsubishi Aircraft is working to bring the MRJ to the 2018 Farnborough Airshow in July for static display and flight demonstrations," says company president Hisakazu Mizutani.
This would mark the first public flying display for the type.
The MRJ made its show debut at Paris in June 2017, with FTA-3 flying in from Moses Lake. Should MRJ dispatch an MRJ for Farnborough, it will come from the Moses Lake contingent.
Given the aircraft's testing campaign, which involves four airframes at Moses Lake, Washington and one in Japan, the company is only likely to have only one aircraft available for Farnborough, which takes place from 16-22 July. Still, the company has yet to make a firm decision on the number of aircraft to bring.
Mitsubishi Aircraft adds that the fleet at Moses Lake returned to flight after a five week hiatus that ended on 21 March. While on the ground, the company improved the jets' wire harnesses to get them closer to production configuration. Its Japan-based aircraft is undergoing ground testing in Nagoya.
The manufacturer adds that the campaign has nearly reached a cumulative 1,900 flight test hours, and that work to rearrange the aircraft's avionics bay is almost complete.
"The redesign of the electrical wire harnesses is well underway and manufacturing is planned, incorporating a phased approach," says the company. "Manufacturing and delivery of the wire harnesses will start shortly."
