Several aircraft manufacturers are working on certification of Gogo's latest air-to-ground internet system, AVANCE L5, and expect to begin delivering aircraft with the system in 2017 and 2018.
Those manufacturers include Bombardier, which announced at NBAA that AVANCE L5 is an option on new and in-service Challenger business aircraft.
All Bombardier service centres and the US MRO shop Duncan Aviation will be available to install the system, says Bombardier.
AVANCE L5 connects Gogo's ground network of some 250 communications towers and provides internet coverage across the continental USA and in parts of Canada and Alaska, says Bombardier.
In addition to Bombardier, AVANCE L5 will be available on jets made by Embraer, Dassault and Learjet, according to announcements at NBAA.
Brazil's Embraer is now working on achieving certification of AVANCE L5 on its Legacy 450 and 500 business jets, with the first delivery of a production aircraft with the system expected in the first quarter of 2018, according to Gogo.
Dassault will offer AVANCE L5 as an option on new Falcon 2000, 2000LXS, 900LX, 5X, 7X and 8X aircraft, Gogo says. Dassault intends to deliver the first AVANCE L5-equipped aircraft later this year, according to Gogo.
In addition, US fixed-based operator Flightstar expects to soon receive a supplemental flight certificate to activate wi-fi using AVANCE L5 on Learjet 40s, 45s, 70s and 75s.
The Illinois-based fixed base operator expects the system will be available for installations in early 2018.
