The Philippines has officially accepted its seventh and eighth Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) FA-50 PH fighter aircraft.
The jets were accepted at Clark Air Base in the north of Manila, says the Philippine air force in a statement. The final four aircraft will be delivered by the end of 2017, bringing the fleet to 12 units.
Philippines air force chief Maj. Gen. Rozzano Briguez thanked the South Korean government for its support in the procurement.
KAI has enjoyed notable success with variants of its T-50 advanced jet trainer in Southeast Asia, with sales to the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia.
The company recently had a stand at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition, where it introduced the type to Malaysian officials.
