AirAsia X has taken delivery of two Airbus A330-300s, the final two aircraft it will add to its fleet, before its A330-900neos arrive in 2018.
The two aircraft, registered 9M-XBA and 9M-XBB, were delivered to AirAsia X on 14 May and 28 May respectively. This brings the long-haul low-cost carrier to a fleet of 31 jets.
Flightglobal’s Fleets Analyzer indicates that the two aircraft were built in 2015, and are owned and managed by BOC Aviation.
“These aircraft are the final two we will receive until our next delivery of the Airbus A330-900neo in 2018. We are very happy to have these two aircraft as part of the AirAsia X Berhad family as it gives us the right capacity to introduce more frequencies and connectivity into our route network,” says AirAsia X’s chief executive Benyamin Ismail.
Fleets Analyzer shows that AirAsia X has orders for 66 A330-900neos and 10 A350-900s.
