The Royal Thai Air Force has bought an Aerostar unmanned air vehicle system from Aeronautics Defense Systems of Israel. There are options to sell more systems in the near future, sources say.
In 2009, Thailand's air force outlined its need for a UAV capability, and evaluated several options before selecting the Israeli design.
The Aerostar is 4.5m (14.8ft) long, has a wingspan of 7.5m and a maximum take-off weight of 210kg (463lb). The air vehicle has a 12h endurance and a loiter speed of 60kt (110km/h).
