Alenia Aermacchi has bolstered its backlog for the C-27J medium transport with an order for two examples from an undisclosed African nation.
The purchase brings to three the number of customers on the continent, with the air forces of Chad and Morocco having previously signed for two and four examples respectively.
The two Rolls-Royce AE2100-engined aircraft will be delivered from 2017, says Alenia Aermacchi, and will be used for troop transport, homeland security and civil protection tasks.
In all, 67 aircraft from a total orderbook of 82 have been delivered.
