US light aircraft developer Nexaer is readying its LS-1 light sport aircraft (LSA) for first flight by the end of June, less than a year after the two-seat carbonfibre aircraft was unveiled. The prototype LS-1 will be powered by a Jabiru 3300, but a number of engine options will be touted, Nexaer says, namely the Jabiru 2200, Rotax 912, Teledyne Continental O-200 and Textron Lycoming O-235.
Colorado Springs-based Nexaer says it has received a huge response for the “futuristic designed” aircraft, which is likely to be priced at around $100,000, and plans to build around 50 LS1s in 2007.
