Nextant Aerospace has begun full-power ground runs of its 400XT with Williams International FJ44-3AP engines and is gearing up to fly the modernised Hawker 400A/XP for the first time this quarter.
The FJ44s replace the Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D-5 engines boosting the legacy aircraft's range by more than 50% to over 2,000nm (3,700km) and reduces operating costs by 30%, says the Richmond Heights, Ohio-based company.
The first P&WC-powered 400XT - equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 cockpit upgrade, Venue cabin management system and a reconfigured and revamped cabin - was delivered to an undisclosed customer in April.

First deliveries of the fully upgraded version - which also offers aerodynamic enhancements including nacelles, pylons and an improved engine mounting configuration - are set to begin in the first half of 2011. The 400XT certification programme will involve around 200-400 flying hours, says Nextant.
