NASA has delayed selecting the prime contractor to build the $500 million Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST). The selection, expected this quarter, has been delayed to allow the agency to change the specifications for the satellite and possibly scale down the project. The launch date for the NGST is now set for 2010, after retirement of the Hubble Space Telescope (Flight International, 20-26 November, 2001).
