DAIMLER-BENZ Aerospace (DASA) has signed three separate contracts for the delivery of Dornier 228 twin-turboprops in civil and maritime-patrol roles.

Thirteen used 228s in the 19-seat transport configuration are to be delivered to Aeronautical Industrial Engineering and Project Management in Kaduna, Nigeria. The sale brings the number of 228s in service in the country to 35.

The German company has also won an order, for two 19-seat commuter 228s from an unnamed Asian client.

On the military front, the Royal Thai Navy has placed an order for three additional 228s for coastguard duties, bringing the total number of 228s in Thai naval service to six.

The three new aircraft are due for delivery by early 1996.

The five new orders increase the total Dornier 228 order book to 227 firm orders from about 80 customers in 40 countries.
